Every priest of the Dao religion uses paintings of this type to complete his altar. Each painting represents a specific god within the panoply of gods in the Daoist religion. The number of paintings within a priest's set depends on the seniority and experience of the priest as well as the traditions of his region. Typically a full set would be 17 although this could be augmented by some special use paintings. This one is one of a set. It represents one of the Three Pures, either To Ta, the oldest, Leng Si, the most revered, or Leng Pu, the youngest. I regret my knowledge of the religion is not complete enough to be able to identify this god more specifically.
